Listen to this one, South Coast.
It’s early Saturday morning, May 9th, and some dude decides he’s gonna smash the front door and display cases of Pearle Vision on Faunce Corner Road with a sledgehammer. Not exactly subtle.
Cops roll up quick, start searching the area, and what do they find? A 51-year-old guy from Fairhaven ridin’ a bicycle with a big ol’ backpack. They open it up… and it’s loaded with designer sunglasses. Price tags still on ‘em. Total value? Over fifty-one thousand dollars.
His name’s Andre Kerman. Arrested right there on the spot.

I mean, come on. A sledgehammer and a bike? That’s the getaway plan?
What They’re Charging Him With:
• Breakin’ and enterin’ at night
• Larceny over $1,200
• Larceny from a building
• Malicious destruction of property
And get this — the police think this might not be his first visit to that same Pearle Vision. They’re lookin’ into other break-ins there.
Shattered glass everywhere, high-end shades all over the place… small business owners out here already dealin’ with enough, and now this.

Be honest with me — is anyone else gettin’ sick of these smash-and-grabs around Dartmouth and the South Coast? It feels like every other week we’re hearin’ about another one. Stores are gettin’ hit, people are frustrated, and it’s gettin’ old real fast.
What do you think should happen with these retail thefts? More cameras? Security guards overnight? Or is it time for tougher charges?
Drop your thoughts in the comments. If you’ve seen weird stuff goin’ on around Faunce Corner or any of the retail spots lately, tell us. We might even throw your story up here.
Stay safe out there, South Coast. And if you see somebody ridin’ a bike with a sledgehammer… maybe call it in.
